There are many ways you can volunteer to help ABC Friends Victoria.

Activities may take place at our South Melbourne Office, around the state or in your own home if you prefer. We have tasks that all ages and abilities can help us with, regardless of location. Experienced members will always be on hand to help you and you won’t be asked to do anything you’re not comfortable with.

Volunteers at our stalls and office are covered by our public liability insurance. You must be a current member for these activities. Please join here.

• Events and stalls
  Location: Various – anywhere close enough to you.
  These might be ABC Friends events, or street, market or festival stalls. This is an important way to spread our message face to face. Tasks may include helping to set up and pack up, greeting visitors, showing guests to seats, handing out materials, chatting to interested people, collecting signatures on petitions.

• Office admin
  Location: ABC Friends office or your local group.
  We periodically need help with administrative work. This would include envelope stuffing and mailing, filing or light office tasks.

• Data entry
  Location: ABC Friends office.
  We often need help keying membership forms and other user data. Some experience of this type of work is needed but training will be provided. Best suited to ongoing volunteers.

• Letter writing
  Location: Your home.
  If you are a keen correspondent, please consider joining our team of letter writers to help get our message out to the media, politicians and other influential parties. We can help co-ordinate campaigns and provide background information and briefings on often technical topics.

• Letterboxing
  Location: Your local area.
  Periodically we need volunteers to do letterbox drops when we have an issue of strong and focused local relevance. You will be able to choose your area and workload. We appreciate the environmental cost of this approach and only use it after careful consideration.

• Telephoning
  Location: ABC Friends office, your local group or your home.
  We do regular checks on our members database and need volunteers to call members whose details appear out-of-date or incorrect. You will not be asked to cold call or make sales and can choose your own work load.
